My Favourite Shots | Humour

It has to be said that Weddings are emotional affairs and years of planning, loads of money, family expectations etc.  can all lead to it being a bit tense if you’re not careful.  Luckily, the other thing about weddings is that for the whole day, you’re surrounded by the family and friends that are closest to you. The people who really understand you.  The people that you enjoy yourself with. So, for that reason, I’m featuring a few shots today in my ‘Favourite Shots’ series.  Some are a bit more posed than others, but all of them contain humour and they all still make me smile when I look at them.

I love to capture all of the emotions when I shoot a wedding.  In the morning when the bride is getting ready, there’s excitement and a few nerves.  Throughout the service there’s the anticipation. The speeches always have tears and laughter. Then, when you get to the end of the evening, there’s always a bit of relief that the day went well, that everyone had a good time and that you can let your hair down a bit.  Throughout the day though, there is humour.  It’s impossible to have a bridal suite full of girls getting ready without humour.  You can’t have a group of guys enjoying a bit of ‘Dutch Courage’ beforehand without humour. You can’t bring two entire families together in one room without humour.  It’s one of my favourite parts of the day. I love looking through the shots on the computer afterwards and seeing the shots of goofy face pulling, groovy dancing and friends & family having a great time together.   I hope you like them too…
