A Wedding Under A Tree at Castle Hill, Huddersfield
I thought that today I would share what was perhaps one of my most unusual weddings of 2016. Definitely unusual in a good way though. Julianne & Josh live in New York, USA. They both love to travel and they love the UK and in particular Yorkshire. So, after searching for somewhere for their wedding, they settled on a tree, in a field, near Castle Hill, Huddersfield. When they first told me about their wedding plans I was a little surprised, but that was before I saw the location. Once I heard more, it all fell into place.
Julianne & Josh travelled over before the wedding with their closest family and friends and on the morning of the wedding, everyone got ready together. With everyone getting ready in the same house it created a different atmosphere. It really felt like a special family day that I was invited to. The whole morning was so relaxed & friendly. There was no real schedule. The ceremony was to be under a tree about 2 minutes walk up the hill from the house and we were setting off when everyone was ready. So there was breakfast, a bit of a kick about with a football, me, impressing them with my ‘Price Is Right’ skills as they experienced the joys of UK daytime TV. Pretty much none of it was usual for a wedding morning.
After the ceremony under the tree, we all set off up the hill to the castle. Now, this was at the beginning of October. Yes, we had sunshine, but it was perhaps not the warmest day and it was windy. Very windy. Especially at the top of the hill. No one was going to let a bit of wind dampen their spirits though.
Afterwards, everyone went on to the Nag’s Head Pub. Real Ale experimentation was on the cards for later in the evening, probably best not to have photographs of that.
