I’ve been quite the Sheffield Wedding Photographer this year! I’ve enjoyed working in Sheffield because it’s where my wife comes from, so every new area of Sheffield I go to, I hear tales of her youth. This time around, my trip to Sheffield was for the wedding of Gemma & Alex at the beautiful Wortley Hall. You may remember Gemma & Alex from the engagement shoot we did a year ago in Derbyshire, but if not, you can head here and have a look.
The day started off at their house, with Gemma & the bridesmaids getting ready. Despite the fact that the weather wasn’t exactly playing ball, it was all very relaxed. From there, we went on to St Mary’s church in Handsworth. Alex was there in all of his finery with the groomsmen, and the church was decked out ready for the impending arrival of Christmas. There were a few tears (definitely the good kind) when Gemma arrived and the ladies were preparing to walk down the aisle. I always like to see the emotions that brides and grooms go through on their wedding day. There’s always the nerves and joy and tears of happiness, there’s also the fear and dread of making a speech. All of the emotions were here today in abundance! I hope I managed to get most of them in the pictures.
After the service, everyone headed to Wortley Hall, just outside Sheffield. It’s a beautiful mansion house situated in its own sprawling grounds. Alex & Gemma had arranged for several bands to provide the music, all merging into a sort of Supergroup that at various points in the evening contained different members of the bridal party. The groom, best men (there were 2 of them) and the grooms dad were all on stage performing.
I had a great time shooting this wedding. The guests certainly had a great time, with the dancing going on well into the night, and most importantly, Gemma & Alex had a brilliant time. I’ll remember this wedding for a long time. I hope you like the pictures:
