Destination Wedding Photographer: Switzerland
Back in the first week of September, I was in Switzerland, Basel to be precise, to photograph the wedding of Annik & Marc. I’ve travelled a lot in the past through working on Cruise Ships. The thing with that sort of travel is that you only ever visit countries with a coast. I was really looking forward to visiting Switzerland. Over the next few weeks, I’ll post some of the shots that I took for myself. Marc and his now Father in Law, Rolf, took me out on a grand tour of the area where I took a lot of photographs which I’ll share soon. This post though, this is all about the wedding.
We started off, early in the morning at Annik & Marc’s apartment in Basel. I always seem to be booked by the most relaxed people & Annik was no exception. The whole morning was super laid back and it was great to spend the morning with Annik & her sister and family. The perfect start to a wedding day.
The Wedding itself was taking place in Merian Gärten. The park, in the centre of Basel, was absolutely beautiful, especially on this warm, sunny day. I love outside weddings. Annik & Marc had their ceremony in front of their family and friends, in the shade of a tree. I think that from now on, every wedding should have Alpine Horn players too.
After an afternoon in the sun, the guests moved indoors, to a greenhouse no less. The previous day I’d joined the family as they prepared the greenhouse & what a job they’d done! It looked amazing. I’m not going to lie to you, I didn’t understand a word of the speeches, but everyone laughed and cried in what seemed like the right places, so I’d say they were successful.
Following dinner was a great game on a ‘Mr & Mrs.’ theme. Even without understanding what was said, it was a lot of fun to watch and then everyone finished the night off by joining the bride and groom on the dance floor.
